MERCY MINISTRIES

The Bible has an estimated 2000 references to serving the poor, the needy, widows and orphans.  For example, Proverbs 14:31 teaches: “Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.”

In addition to God-honoring service and support provided by individual members, Grace also encourages and supports collective efforts, including the following.

The Emergency Assistance Center

In an effort to assist the hungry in our area especially as costs continue to rise, the elders have approved the placement of a collection container in the narthex.  The items collected will be given to The Emergency Assistance Center (TEAC) which is a network partner of the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank and located in Macedonia.  TEAC serves Northfield Center, Sagamore Hills, Macedonia, Twinsburg, Reminderville, Richfield, Peninsula, Hudson, and Boston Heights.  TEAC is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau.
If you are able to give, the following is a list of the items most needed by TEAC.  This is not an all inclusive list and all non-perishable items are accepted.  Please check expirations as they cannot accept expired food items:
Food:  Canned Fruit and Vegetables, Instant Potatoes, Mac and Cheese, Ramen Noodles, Peanut Butter, Pasta, Rice and Rice Mixes, Jar/Canned Tomato and Spaghetti Sauces, Canned Soups, Applesauce Cups, Instant Oatmeal, Cake Mixes and Rrosting.
Hygiene:  Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Deodorant, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Body Wash, Shampoo, Conditioner, Bar Soap, Razors

APS Christmas Giving Tree

Annually, Grace Church sponsors a Christmas Giving Tree to provide gifts (typically necessities) for children of clients of Akron Pregnancy Services.  It is our hope and prayer that the recipients of these gifts will come to know Jesus as both Savior and Lord.  Visit our Missions page at https://gracechurchpca.org/13235-2/

PCA Retirement & Benefits: Ministerial Relief

PCA churches around the country collect donations to look after widows, retired ministers and PCA church servants in distress.  The funds are administered through the PCA Ministerial Fund to provide financial  assistance and support to our faithful servants, many of whom live near or below the poverty line.  Donations help pay for basic needs like groceries, housing, and medical expenses.  Visit pcarbi.org/lookafter.
