At Grace Presbyterian Church, worship is first and foremost about bringing glory and honor to our Triune God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Many people think of worship mainly as something we do for God. And while offering our praise and thanksgiving is an important part of worship, the deeper reality is that God Himself is the first to act—He serves us. The heart of our service is that God graciously calls us into His presence, speaks to us through His Word, assures us of His forgiveness in Christ, and nourishes us by His Spirit.
Jesus said, “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28). His greatest act of service was laying down His life on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Yet He continues to serve us now as the risen Lord, gathering His people each week to receive His gifts.
Our Reformed confessions remind us that worship is God’s gracious initiative: He calls us, cleanses us, and communes with us. We do not come boasting of our merits, but resting in His mercy and relying on His promises. This is our comfort and our joy—that God Himself meets with us and strengthens us by His grace.
In response, we lift our voices in prayer, song, and praise. We confess our faith, hear God’s Word proclaimed, and respond with thankful hearts. At the center of it all is the good news of Jesus Christ—His Word, His forgiveness, His mercy. Worship at Grace is not first about what we offer to God, but about what He so generously gives to us.
